Obituary of David Olding

On Wednesday, September 30th, 2020, David Olding, passed away at the age of 86 years. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Canada at the age of 23, where he met his loving wife Marilyn. He is also survived by his children; Robert (Sylvie L), Mark (Sylvie V), John (Ben) and Emily (James) and six grandchildren; JF, Michelle, Allysa, Jeremy, Airrain and Benjamin as well as his dear brother-in-law David Astrof.
David co-founded the company MacKinnon & Olding Ltd., a leading Marine and Industrial contractor in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Following his retirement, he served for 10 years as a full-time volunteer chaplain for Correction Services Canada, making daily visits to the halfway houses in Halifax and regular calls to Correctional Facilities throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
David's life focussed on caring for those who seem to have no one to care for them; prisoners, the homeless, addicts and sex workers. In recognition of his outreach, David was the recipient of the 2010 Lieutenant Governor's Faith in Action award.
David's loving Spirit, thoughtfulness, and wonderful sense of humour touched many throughout his life.
