Leah Turner
Glace Bay
It is with a heavy heart that we the family of the late Leah Turner (nee Warren) announce her passing on September 22, 2020 at the age of 89 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Fox Island, NL, Leah was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Ann Warren (nee Rose).
She was a homemaker most of her married life and a fantastic cook. She thoroughly enjoyed her social activities including bowling, darts and was an avid card player. She looked forward to her weekly card games at the Pensioners Club which she attended well into her 80’s. Leah was very young at heart and she loved life.
She leaves to her mourn her only daughter, Joanne (Bernie)Doucette. Her grandchildren Paul(Amanda), Troy, Ian (Stacey), of whom she loved very much and never failed to ask about. She is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Declan, Arleigh, Daxx and Callie, who never failed to brighten up her day. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Midge Kennedy and Ada Turner. Leah leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews and dear friends, both near and far, too many to name. Even though our hearts are filled with sorrow we find comfort knowing Leah is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Harold whom she missed dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Harold Turner in 1982. Also, a grandson William Charles Doucette in infancy, brothers Freeman (Josie) Glace Bay, Ronald, George Warren in childhood, sisters Nora (Norman), Shears NL, Melina (Frank) Bird, NL, Rose (Reuban) Carter NL, Dorothy Warren in childhood.
The family would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Gallivan, staff of the Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Hematology Clinic staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, for your care, support and compassion shown to Leah over the last several years.
