Obituary of John Green

John Vernon Green Port Morien It is with incredible sadness and despair, we the family of John Green announce his sudden passing at home on Monday, September 14, 2020. John was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. John retired from DOT in January 2018 after over 40 years of service and more recently could be found volunteering at the Morien Legion where he was a member, around the yard tinkering on something, playing darts or anywhere Jean was. He will be forever remembered and thought of by his family as someone who would do anything for his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his wife and soul mate Jean (Gale); Sons John (Jennifer) and David (Melissa); as well as Grandchildren Jeff, Jessica, Josh, Jillian, Matthew and one expecting in March; sisters Elizabeth Harburn, Annie Fitzpatrich; brother Bobby (Carol) Green; brothers-in-law Sandy (Madeline) Gale, Donnie (Pam) Ledrew; sisters-in-law Joanne (Terry) Nearing, Dorothy (Ian Gunn) Ledrew and many nieces and nephews who will miss their uncle John immensely. John was predeceased by parents Elsie and Jefferson (Pinky) Green; in-laws Mary and Everett Ledrew, Ted Harburn and John Fitzpatrich; brothers Jefferson (Junior), Tom and Arthur in infancy. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating, at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
