Obituary of Marthe Genevieve Gariepy

Marthe Geneviève Gariépy (1939-2020) Marthe passed away peacefully at home in Lower Sackville during the night of September 3rd 2020 after a 2-year battle with lung cancer. She was 80 years old. Marthe, a widow since 1985, was born in Montreal and moved to Nova Scotia in 2013. Although from Quebec, she truly immersed herself in Nova Scotian culture and really enjoyed living here. Marthe was very social. She enjoyed going to her bingo and crib clubs and loved hanging out with her friends, going dancing with them twice a month. She also knitted and she was part of a knitting club. She was a very generous person, often knitting items that would be sold to garner funds for the Dartmouth Seniors Centre. Moving to Nova Scotia and meeting her new friends really revitalized her life. Although diabetic, Marthe had a very sweet tooth, often having a little stash of sweets hidden in one of her dresser drawers. She enjoyed watching crime shows on television and action movies. She also enjoyed playing board and card games with her family. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
