Obituary of James Joseph Fleming
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our father, husband and friend, on August 28th, 2020 at the age of 83.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred "Millie" Marie Fleming(Onyett), his two sons Kevin Michael Fleming and Craig Murray Fleming.
He was predeceased by his parents; Charles Fleming & Catherine Fleming (Penney), and by his siblings; Rita Harris(Fleming), Ray Fleming, Charlie Fleming, Leo Fleming, Gordon Fleming.
Jim was born in Brown's Arm, Newfoundland, but moved to Halifax Nova Scotia many years ago at 4 years of age with his family.
Jim's working career was in administration with the City of Halifax collector's office tax department. He was the type of person that would do anything for anyone if he could. He was more of a homebody and enjoyed being around his family. He was very dependable and loved his family with all his heart.
Jim was a humble man and devoted to his wife Millie and took up square and round dancing that they both enjoyed for many years together. Jim and Millie both enjoyed going to the casino once a week as well. His favourite sports to watch were hockey (Montreal Canadiens, NASCAR, baseball (Dodgers) and college football (Notre Dame). He enjoyed doing the weekly Lexicon and the daily Target in the newspaper. Jim's quiet chuckle and dry sense of humour showed his appreciation of a good joke.
He will be sadly missed by family and everyone who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and as per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
