Obituary of William J. Gillis

It is with sadness that the family of William (Bill) Gillis, age 100 of Middle Sackville, announce his passing on August 6th, 2018, at Abbie J. Lane Memorial Hospital. Born in Charnwood PEI, he was the son of Peter and Nellie (Gillis) Gillis. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Mabel of 45 years; sisters Maude, Elizabeth, Anne, Helen, and Alice; and brothers Elmer, Alan, and John. He will be lovingly remembered by his honorary daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Smith, her children: Lawson Smith, Kyle Smith (Elyse), Hallie Whidden (Chris), her grandchildren: Emily & Leia Whidden, and Haaken, Saxon, Magnus, Imogen, Smith; sisters: Theresa Flipping of Montreal, and Mary Bouffard of Ottawa; brother: Charles Gillis (Catherine) of Souris, PEI, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Bill lived and worked in Saint John, NB, for over 50 years. The last twenty were spent in Sackville, NS. His spare time was spent pursuing his hobby as an antique auto enthusiast. Arrangements have taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford (902-835-4212). Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16th, 2018, from 10 am to 11 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 74 Almon Lane, Rothesay, NB, E2E 5K1, with funeral service to be held immediately following visitation at 11 am; reception and interment to follow.
