Obituary of Audrey Curry

Audrey Mae Curry Donkin Audrey Mae Curry (nee: Spencer) age 65 of Donkin passed away Aug 15, 2020, at home. Born in Glace Bay, Audrey was the daughter of Aubrey and Marion (Butts) Spencer. Audrey was a world-class baker, a natural green thumb, and an animal whisperer. Audrey was a stay at home mom for most of her life, but often spoke fondly of her time at the H.Hopkins Fish Plant in Morien in her younger years and later in the kitchens at Breton Bay. Audrey was the kindest & most compassionate woman. She made everyone feel welcome and enjoyed being surrounded by close friends and family, especially during the holidays. She could often be found enjoying a cup of coffee with a scratch ticket or working her magic in her gardens. Audrey is survived by her husband, John Moore of 45 years; sister, Helen Jackson; son Jordan (Stacey), daughters Shauna (John) Dillon, Chelsea (Charles), and Audrey (Justin) and grandchildren Michael and Darcy Mae. She was predeceased by siblings Victoria Clements and John Spencer. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or Hospice Cape Breton. Special thank you to Audrey’s sister in law Pearl Moore for her complete and utter devotion to Audrey over the years and for the excellent care she provides, Nurse Michelle Kelly and the palliative care team, Cape Breton Cancer Center, VON, Cape Breton Homemakers especially Liz Murrant, Tracey Byrne, and Rose Matheson, and the pharmacy team at Sobeys Glace Bay.
