Mary Frances “Francie” Cumming, age 94, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2020 at Parkland at the Lakes, Dartmouth, NS. A special thank you to the staff of both Jamieson Hall and Lewis Hall who cared for Francie during her final years. Born in New Waterford, NS, Francie was predeceased by her parents Charles Dunn and Catherine, her brothers John, Roy, and Alison, her sister Bessie (Brown), and her niece and nephew Kathryn (MacKenzie) and Roy Brown. Francie moved to Boston, MA in 1966 and worked as a Custodial Supervisor for Wellsley College. She retired after 26 years of service in 1992. She lived in Boston until 2012 when she moved home to NS. Francie was happiest laughing and socializing with friends and was known for her love of family, ice skating and country line dancing. Her love of music was apparent as she always had a song on the tip of her tongue and dance steps at the ready; In the Mood was one of her favorites and never failed to get her feet moving. Her fondness for stylish hats will always be remembered; she brought a sense of fun to everything she did. She shared a special relationship with her only niece Kathy, whom she loved to visit in NS. They always had a good time when they were together, two peas in a pod. After Francie moved back to NS, her final years were spent having teatimes, visiting with family and lots of dancing at Parkland. Cremation has taken place. A gathering and burial for friends and family will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Union Grove Cemetery with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay, NS
