James David Nicholls (Dave) of Dartmouth, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 1st, 2020 in the Victoria General Hospital. Dave was born July 30, 1950 in Ottawa to Yvette A. (Renaud) Nicholls and the late Charles B. Nicholls. Dave was a quiet, kind, creative man of many talents. He was great at cooking and baking, and always enjoyed cooking for extended family occasions. He loved nature, as reflected in his paintings, camping, gardening, fishing, and carpentry. He could do it all. He was a life-long learner, an avid reader, acquiring a broad knowledge of many topics. He loved animals, especially Jeffie, their pet cockatoo. Most importantly, he was devoted to Fran, his loving wife of 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Fran (née MacDonald), Dartmouth, N.S., mother, Yvette, sister, Susie (Barry), brothers, Michael, Tommy (Lilly), Charlie (Laurie) all of Ottawa; and Brian (Anne-Marie), Kingston, Ontario, several nieces and nephews and many in-laws. He was predeceased by his father, Charles, sister, Dee, and sister-in-law, Debbie. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, the VON, and the palliative care team for their support and kindness to both Dave and Fran. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax.
