Jo-Anne Acker
Glace Bay
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Jo-Anne Acker, age 70, who passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses.
Born in Glace Bay Jo-Anne was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Currie) Krewenki. She was predeceased by her brother John.
Jo-Anne devoted her life to her family as a mother and homemaker.
Her door was always open and you could often find her baking skills on display.
Jo-Anne's cabbage rolls, spaghetti and meatballs were legendary.
In the warmer months, a garden on her back porch brought many hours of joy as flowers flourished under her care.
She was kind and caring to all children but the light of her life were her granddaughters Rebecca, Marlie and of course Abby.
Jo-Anne is survived by her husband Allan; daughter, Johnna and son Allan (Kim).
Also surviving are her sisters Paula and Arlene (Murdoch), her brothers-in-law Pat (Debbie) and David (Sandy), sister-in-law Rose McComber, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Mary and Donna.
We would like to thank Dr. Kelly and the nursing staff on the 4th floor 4B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.
In honouring her wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199)

God’s Garden
God looked around his garden and found an empty space.
He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to Rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering and in pain.
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again.
He saw the Road was getting rough, the hills hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered “ Peace Be Thine.”
Our hearts are broke to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone, a part of us went with you,
When God called you Home.
