Obituary of Jane Deruelle

Dorothy ‘Jane’ Deruelle Dominion It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy “Jane” Deruelle, age 64, of Dominion, on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax on April 12, 1956, Jane was the daughter of the late Augustin and Janet (McWhirter) Deruelle. Mom previously worked for and is a past member of the Army Navy & Air Force, Glace Bay. In her younger years she enjoyed playing darts and baseball. Mom was also an avid bingo player. Mom enjoyed spending time with her family as she was a caring and loving partner, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mom loved to help others whenever she could and enjoyed attending family events. Mom will be missed by her long-time partner, John MacKay; daughter, Michelle Ellsworth (Greg), Glace Bay; son, Gus (Catherine), Glace Bay; step-children, Jason, Jeff, Jaime, DJ, Aaron and Eric; grandchildren, Tanya, Amanda, Evie and Dante; step-grandchildren, Bria and Kaiden; great grandchild, Connor and also her fur baby, Daisy. She is also survived by her Aunt Louise; niece, Jermaina; brothers-in-law, Earl (Shelley), Mike (Sandra), Neil (Ann);sister-in-law, Diane (Wayne), as well as many cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Jim Bennett, sister-in-law, Jane and her husband, Pete De Witte, and several aunts and uncles. Mom will also be missed by close friends Paula, Rachel, Ruthie, Esther, Pat, Shawn, Rose and Marie, as well as a large circle of friends that are too numerous to name. We,the family, would like to express our deepest and heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses of Palliative care and the VON for all the compassion and care provided during Mom’s illness. As per her wishes there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
