Dear Anna
Brian and I send our sincere condolences to you . We were so sad to hear of Les’s passing. He seemed so well when we saw him last. I never thought that it would be this soon. He truly was a wonderful man,so joyous, and neighborly. He just loved to have the solution for everyone.
I am hoping your Cruise made for some wonderful memories together. It is extra hard when you are not able to have our usual customs where people come together to support you in your grief.
Wishing you strength and positivity to help you through this difficult time.
Dorothy & Brian

Dear Anna and the MacKinnon family, I am very sorry for your loss. I was an occasional guest at the Cape Breton dances and Les always welcomed me as a regular visitor. He never failed to check to see if we were related and he always tried to see who we knew in common from Cape Breton. I'll miss hearing his "hoof" during the spotlight steps. You are all in my thoughts an prayers.

Anna, Charlene and family: Our hearts are heavily saddened to learn of Leslie's passing. We have know this man since the 1980's and thoroughly enjoyed his company. He was a very interesting man with whom to "talk". His Obituary certainly depicts a very colorful life. About two years ago he came to Camp Hill Hospital one afternoon where Wayne played fiddle accompanied by other musicians. This was an annual event to entertain the Veterans, and Les was aware of the occasion. When we arrived, much to our pleasant surprise and delight, here he was and absorbed the full hour or more. Last summer on September 1 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, he drove into our yard and again, delightfully surprised us for what he said was a very brief visit -- more than an hour later and a steady chat on the deck, he was on his way. Would loved to have kept him longer. We will always remember Les as a very caring and kind gentleman. We will miss him and know he leaves a huge void in the lives of those who were blessed to know and love him. May memories comfort you always. God Bless. Our Sincere Sympathy, Tender Thoughts and Prayers, Muriel & Wayne Hiltz

Anna, so sad to read of the passing of Les. Very much enjoyed our times together at DFO from the Fisheries Research Lab to BIO.
He was pretty much a human library of all things Maritimes DFO. A huge loss to the community. Our thoughts are with you.

Anna, my sincere condolences on your loss. Les’s knowledge of DFO’s many building, structures, fishways and other installations was encyclopedic. He was a great supporter of DFO’s programs and put his knowledge and skills to great benefit of those programs.
I always enjoyed our conversations about Cape Breton’s musical heritage and chats when I’d occasionally run into Les at the Sunday Celtic Corner music sessions or a square dance in Margaree.
My thoughts are with you,
Faith Scattolon
