Obituary of Dorothy Edna Beard

Dorothy Beard age 95, of Halifax, passed away on April 17th in Northwood.
Born in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Leslie & Beatrice (MacDonald) Payne. This feisty Bostonian lived an interesting life. She worked on the oil rigs in Calgary as a cook, and at various restaurants in NY and Montreal. She managed the Sunnyside Donut Shop for 17 yrs. In earlier days, Dorothy worked at the Halifax Dockyards, the Polar Ice Cream Factory, and Canada Packers. She had been an active member of the Sackville Lioness Club, loved playing bingo, and loved going to Frenchy’s. Many of you will remember Dorothy from her flea market days at the Halifax Forum and then becoming a faithful employee at the Sackville Flea Market. She is survived by her children, Bob (BC), Ted (Que), and Janet Beard (ON), grandchildren Kurtis & Deren Beard, and her long-time friend, Janice. She was predeceased by her brother, Leslie Payne Jr.
Interment at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
