Dear Graham, Janice, Barry & Tommy:
Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She was a fine lady. Lovely obituary and the picture says it all. Hold on to all your great memories.
I can still remember one birthday in particular, she "hand-made" 4 beautiful Barbie doll dresses for my doll. Well I was so excited. Toys and doll clothes were not plentiful back then. They were something. And, we have a picture of your mother doing the "hoola-hoop" by our old metal clothesline. Picture that. And, Lynn and I still have our old Christmas stockings that we both used as kids. The names on the Christmas stockings read, Linda on her's, and Hazel on mine. Mom mentioned that Jean gave them years ago as they used to be her sisters'. We were all ahead of the times back then "recycling and re-purposing". Ha! Those were called hand-me-downs back then. Those stockings are still around - just a bit tattered and torn but fond Christmas memories with them. I hear she made great birthday cakes back then too.
Happy memories, take care,
Karen (Doubleday) Howatt

I always marvelled at her ability to make those tiny little Barbie outfits ! I used to love when she would stroll over to sit on the front steps for a chat and always a few laughs ! I will always have fond memories of her ....

To Jeannie James Family:
So sorry to read of Jeannie's passing. She was a smart and lovely lady. She lived across the street from us on Federal Avenue and was like a second mother to me. She introduced me to peanut butter and banana sandwiches, lent me her Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books and so many other kindnesses that meant so much to a little girl. Her and her husband, "Jessie" James always welcomed me into their home. Over the years, I would run into her some where and it was just like old times. Rest in Peace lovely lady.

So sorry to read of the passing of your mom. I thought so much of her. We worked together at Charms and Things but I knew her through Tommy. Having grown up on St. Andrews Ave. I hung around with Tommy and would visit your home. Your mom always had a beaming smile and her laugh was infectious. I sang a song to our children and now to our grand children which your mom told me was Graham’s favorite. “You Are My Special Angel”. I have thought of Jean, Tommy and Graham many times over the years because of this song. Your mom was such a fun loving, kind hearted individual. God Bless you all. Cindy (Salsman) Easson

Dear Tommy and family,
We are very sorry to learn about the passing of Jean.
We have many fond memories of you and your mom. Jean was a very special lady to us
but especially to our children. I always admired her excellent care and tireless work with our children
in the Kiddie Capers program at Northcliffe Recreation Centre. This picture of Jean captures my
memories of her. A big smile, a witty comment and a helping hand.
Peace be with you,

I was so sad to read this obituary this morning,I have such great memories of Mrs.James growing up in the Pubs with these great people.I can remember walking home with Barry or Tommy noon time or after school to their house so we could play with Graham and Mrs James would always come and offer a cookie and take the time to have a chat with us. Later in in life my wife Judy had taken a craft class and low and behold who was teaching the class but Mrs James and her and Judy became pretty good friends after that. Well it is never easy to lose a loved one especially a parent and a great one like their mom,so please except our sincere condolences at this time and may Mrs James rest in piece.Love always Brian & Judy McCarthy
