To Barb’s Family,
So very sorry to hear that Barb has passed away. I knew Barb very well in high school. We were immediately close when she moved here from Cape Breton until we graduated when we went in different directions for our careers. We had many good laughs and adventures. She had a car which was unusual for a female in high school at that time and we went off on many adventures. One of my favourite memories was when she & I decided to represent our school in the local curling league. We found two other people to form a team - I was Skip and she was Lead. We were there to enjoy it versus being competitive so we had our own way of figuring out which way to curl the stones and work out a strategy. Amazingly, we who were least competitive ended up winning the championship. No one was more surprised than Barb & I. I can still hear her laugh. I still remember her joy. I hope she is free now to have peace & joy. Take care.

Sending my condolences to Barb's family. I was so shocked to hear of barb's passing. She was a very nice lady and easy to talk to .We always had a conversation and a laugh in the lunch room at work. Barb used to get so excited to see sweets in the lunch room, she would usually tuck it away until break time. I really think she had a sweet tooth! .so sorry for your families loss, barb and her nice smile will always be remembered . Judy Flemming

Sending sincere sympathies to each of Barb’s family. I was shocked and saddened to read of Barb’s passing! Barb and I worked together in the Training Centre back in EPA days and I do not ever recall Barb not wearing her ever-present smile. Hopefully, with time, your own happy and loving memories will bring each of you comfort and peace.

After moving to Fall River in the 80's it was soon after that our families met and became good friends, many hours together
in the rinks but also at each others homes and some trips away, those were the days. Barb was always such a smart and stylish dresser with a wonderful smile and kindness about her.
She loved all her 3 boys and I'm sure her grand-daughter was a shining light in her world. We hadn't seen Barb in years but
will always cherish our fun times together as friends and family get togthers.
There was a time when we thought we had an extra son living in our home(Ryan) and I'm sure your Mom thought the same about Brandon.
Adam(Quin) and Ryan we are thinking of you especially during this sad and difficult time,we are sending our love to you all plus our condolences to Barb"s extended family.

Adam and Ryan, We are thinking of you and the loss of your mother. Barb was always so friendly and was like a bright light, when she entered a room. When you were growing up, your family brought much joy to Grammie and Grampie Rogers, from your visits on weekends to the family farm. Your mother's enthusiasm was felt by all. Your mom was always so proud of you two boys, and she was more then thrilled to become a grandmother. We send our love and sympathy to you both, and to little Quin, also our condolences to your mother's sister Jade and family. May your most precious memories help you through your grief and remember, we are here for you. Love, Connie and Buddy

Dear Ryan and Adam,
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I have lots of great memories from the many hours spent in the hockey rink cheering on our Bedford Blues. She was always fun to be with and had such a great sense of humour. I ran into her a couple of times a few years ago when she worked at Superstore and she always spoke about both of you with such pride. She sure loved her boys! I hope your cherished memories bring you much comfort in the days to come.

Greetings. I was deeply saddened to read of Barb's passing. I didn't know the name but the picture made me think; I KNOW her. As I read further, I realized she was Barb Dickson; we had grown-up together in Glace Bay, me on Hillier Street and her on the corner of South and George Streets. As I write this, so many memories come flooding back of the wonderful, care-free days we had as kids growing-up in the 60's, camping out in the back yard, summers swimming at Gramp's Beach and Plymouth Rock, and so many others. As we grew and moved through grade school and high school, we went in different directions as our groups of friends grew, but Barb was always "from the "hill", as we all were. One of the best, and certainly the fondest memories of her I have was in high school. One year, in the year book, there was always a 'best boy' and 'best girl' section. I remember this so vividly because I won for 'best hair', (if you saw me now you would laugh), but it was down to my shoulders back then, and Barb won for 'best legs'; and boy did she! (^_^); I always teased her about having the best legs in high school --- you have to remember it was the 60's. One day she got very angry at me, probably because I said something stupid, but she wanted to know why I was making such a big deal out of it. She said, (and I paraphrase of course), you see me everyday in the summer in a bathing suit and my legs go up to here; why this?!! I don't think I ever answered, at least not to her satisfaction . . .
Anyway, I feel the world is a little lessened with her passing, the day light not so bright and the nights a little darker. To all of her family, and I know I speak for everyone from the neighbourhood, my deepest, most heart-felt condolences and may you always remember her as I will --- with a smile.
Please let me know when the internment will take place; I'd be honored to pay my respects.
Sincerely; John Inch

I just heard the saddest news of the passing of my dear friend colleaque and roommate ... the beautiful Barb Dickson.. We joined Eastern Provincial Airlines in March of 1973... we became "stewardesses" and the world was our oyster... Sent to Montreal after graduation to be based there... can you imagine.. me from Yarmouth, Barb from Glace Bay, and Nicole Babineau from Richibucto .. totally out out our comfort zone but being together we quickly adapted... lol Three crazy gals thinking that a 6 day block with layovers in Wabush and Gander was winning the lottery... we had so so much fun... Barb's laugh and her jokes and stories are legendary.. and her smile... her beautiful smile.. that never left your memory.. Like everyone Barb fought some demons and some times that lead to some crazy and not so crazy adventures.. we both got married and had two boys..and then as we moved away from one another we lost touch.. I would hear news of Barb every now and again and it always made my heart sing... She was so proud of her boys and as I see a granddaughter too... how lucky to have her for a Nana.. !! I am sure you all will miss her terribly...I know that memory of being roomies just became much more cherished...Well sweet dear friend Barb... you received your wings in March 1973... now you get a chance to use them...the skies will be a little brighter now with your beautiful heart and soul shared to everyone... Rest in peace I will never forget you and the story of Mary Lou your little kitten will stay with me forever... in sympathy prayers and love to you all Deborah "Ettinger" Gauthier.. xoxo

Was shocked and saddened to hear of your mom's passing. So sudden and too soon. I worked with her at the Superstore. She talked a lot about her sons , we compared notes as I have a son too. She was over the moon when Quinn was born. And was devastated when her mom passed away. She loved Cape Breton. We shared many laughs in the staff room about working in retail ! RIP Barb, you will be missed
