Maurina MacIntyre
Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the sudden passing of my mom, Maurina MacIntyre, surrounded by her loving family on September 2, 2018. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Fraser and Sarah (MacDonald) MacAulay of Reserve Mines.
She leaves behind her son, Keith (Mary Lynn); “Nannie’s boys” grandsons, Logan and Lucas, Glace Bay; her sister, Joyce Polson, Reserve Mines; nephew, David (Geri) Glace Bay; niece, Cathy (Jamie) Amherst; grand-aunt, to Emily and Hayden, Amherst.
She was predeceased by husband, Archie; sister, Kay; parents, Fraser and Sarah MacAulay, and brother-in-law, Francis Polson.
Mom lived her entire life in Reserve Mines, and she was so very proud to be part of this community. She worked many years at the Credit Union where she gave many people their financial start in life. After she retired, she became “The Avon Lady”. While making her deliveries over these many rewarding years, she met a lot of people that were not just her customers, they became her friends she always made time to sit and chat with each one and enjoyed the socializing more than making any sale. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish and Sergeant at Arms at the Legion. Mom always loved company, her door was always open and the kettle was always on for tea. She was not only a wonderful mother to me, but she was also a second mother to many of my friends and was a loving friend and caring neighbour that will truly be missed. She had great love for her family she was “Our Rock”. Her biggest pride and joy were her two grandsons, there probably wasn’t anyone that didn’t see the “Brag Book” of pictures that she carried everywhere.
My mother was a very small lady but she had the biggest heart I have ever seen. She was the kindest, most caring and compassionate person I know. She gave to those in need whenever she could even if she went without. She made difficult things seem easy, she had the answers to all my questions, she was my light in the dark, and she was my compass when I felt lost. I hope that even a little of who she was has been instilled in my sons. I know they will be better men for having known her, we all are better having known her.
Mom, you are now reunited with Dad, the love of your life. I will always love and miss you more than words can say.
Visitation will take place Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
