James ‘Jimmy’ Dawson
Reserve Mines
It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of our Dad, James ‘Jimmy’ Dawson, on April 4, 2020, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Reserve Mines, on October 18th 1931, he was the son of the late James and Agnes (Smith) Dawson. Dad was a truck driver by trade until his retirement. After retiring he loved telling stories and having a good joke, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his dear family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Monica (Kevin Trombley), Ontario, Jimmy (Amy) Sydney Mines, and Lana (Derek Gouthro), Gardiner Mines; his eight grandchildren, who meant the world to him, Samantha, Matthew, Nicole, Alyssa, Logan, Kallan, Mary- Jane, Jacob and three great grandchildren, Chace, Aeilah and Jocelyn. His sister Dorothy (Frankie) Ontario and his dear friends Owen, Gussie and Barbara.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Velma; by his brothers, Billy, Jack and Buddy; sisters Margaret, Mary and Betty. Special thanks for the genuine care and support provided to Jimmy over the years to Dr.Ley, the staff of Seaview Manor and the 3rd floor nursing staff of the Glace Bay Hospital.
Respecting Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family celebration for dad will be at later date. Give mom a hug for us. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
