Mary Karen MacDonald Reserve Mines 'A hard working passionate figure of strength and courage who never wandered on her love or support for her family and who soldiered on, even when times were tough.' It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Karen (Hines) MacDonald on Monday, March 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born August 15, 1943 in Reserve Mines, Mom was truly blessed to be raised by her loving grandparents, Willie and Katie Hines. Mom took great pride in calling them Mama and Daddy. Mom was an avid bingo player and had a great passion for the game of darts. She played in various leagues in the community where you could hear people cheer “great shot Mummy”. Her greatest passion was helping others that called upon her for expertise in her cooking and cleaning abilities. Karen made fabulous friends over the years and we would often be amazed by how she could do it. Mom would always say, ‘I like my job but most of all I love the people.’ Mom is survived by her children, Paula, Kathy (Brent),Bill and Steven; her sister, Marilyn Reddick, her grandchildren, Jamie and Will; her great granddaughter, Renee; many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her chosen family Terri and Stewart Morris. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her first born daughter Wanda, granddaughters, Sarah and Nicole and her brother Timmy Hines. A celebration of life for our beautiful mother will take place 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) . Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery will take place at a later date. Dearest Mom, we feel honoured and privileged to have been your children, you always loved and supported us unconditionally and were the best mom anyone could ever wish for. Love you Always.
