Obituary of Dougie Reid

Douglas ‘Dougie’ Reid Glace Bay, age 41 It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear son, Dougie on Sunday February 16, 2020 at home. Born February 25, 1978 he was the only son of Francis and Cecilia (Metcalfe) Reid. Dougie was an underground miner throughout Canada, last working for Kameron Coal, Donkin. In his younger years, he played both hockey and ball, but his favourite pastime was playing darts. He was also an avid fisherman. Along with his parents, Dougie is survived by his son Brandon Binder (Kelsey Clements); daughter, Molly MacDonald, his partner, Cori MacDonald and her two sons, TJ and Evan. Dougie is also survived by his grandmother Martina ‘Girlie’ Reid; aunts and uncles Tommy Reid(Kim), Lisa Jewells (Ernie), Paul Metcalfe (Paula Furey) and Blair (Debbie Gouthro), Stephen, Leonard, Clifford, Sandy and Jason Metcalfe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many close friends and buddies. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the EHS, the Glace Bay Fire Department, the Cape Breton Regional Police Services, and a special thank you to all of those who visited, brought food, sent cards and online messages. Your kind words and gestures means so much to us to know that he was loved by so many people. Fly high Dougie. You will be missed.
