Obituary of Judy Figuary-McNeil

Judith Bernice 'Judy' Figuary-McNeil Glace Bay It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Judith Figuary-McNeil, regret to announce her passing on February 17, 2020 at the Glace Bay Hospital at the age of 65. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Margaret (Chant) Hann. Growing up, Judy always had a passion for sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking and excelled at each. It was always a special treat to have Judy create something just for you, no matter if it was as intricate as a patchwork quilt or a wedding gown or as simple as a pair of socks. It has to be said, Judy made the best fudge. Judy worked many years with her talents at Gerd’s Tailor Shop and Vogue Cleaners as a Seamstress. Later in life, Judy found passion with computers and changed career paths working at Stream(Convergys) from the day it opened until illness forced her to retire in 2018. She will be fondly remembered by many friends she made at her places of work over the years. Judy is survived by her children, Wendy (Barry) Shewchuck, Millville, Dale (Cathy) Shewchuck, Shelburne, and Amanda (Crystal) Figuary, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Tristan, Tara, Matthew, Chaise, Abbey, Jacob, Cassie; great grandchildren, Gavin and Hannah; sisters, Joyce Whyte, Sharon (Ron) MacKillop, both of Glace Bay; brothers, Calvin Hann, Winnipeg, Chesley (Rhonda) Hann, Glace Bay, as well as many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by husband, David McNeil, our dad Robye Figuary, brother-in-law, Fred Whyte, niece Brandi and granddaughter, Garilynn Stewart. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 from 12-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
