Joe Campbell Glace Bay It is with a broken heart and profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Joe Campbell in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the C.B.R.H. with his loving family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (McIntyre) Campbell. Joe attended school in Glace Bay. At the age of 17, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served on board the H.M. C. S. Cap de la Madeleine. Residing in Glace Bay, Joe was employed at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 003 for 35 years. He was a member of Br. 003 as well as the Glace Bay Pensioners Club. He loved baseball, hockey and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed playing pool at the Pensioners Club. Joe was a very special man and was loved by all who knew him. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Kendall) Campbell; his three sons, Joe (Lisa), Robert, Garett (Sherry);two daughters, Melanie (Jackie) and Jenna (Kevin); brothers, Tom (Sandra), Frank (Rosanne), Doug (Monika); sisters, Louise (John ) Robinson, Kathy Buchanan, Sharon (Albert) MacDonald; his grandchildren, Bobby, Carys, Leah and Lexi as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Edna Fisher; sisters, Marie and Francie; brother-in-law, Bill Buchanan. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Joe will be held Friday, February, 7, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
