Charlie MacNeil
We the family of Charlie MacNeil regrets to announce his passing at home on January 25,2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he was the son of the late Michael ‘Big Charlie’ and Catherine ‘Ka’ (Talbot) MacNeil.
Born in the ‘The Hub’ Glace Bay, Charlie was a member of the Black Watch Regime 2 B.N. (RHR) in his younger years and when he came home he was a coal miner with Devco until his retirement
Charlie was both a ball player and coach for many years and was also avid bowler and dart player. He was a member of the Hub Club and spent many a day down there with his friends talking about the good old days. You could often find Charlie on a dance floor rockin and rollin to the oldies. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan (Billard) MacNeil; daughter, Charlene (Daren); son, Michael (Michelle), daughter Jennifer (Bobby) and stepson, David (Cindy); he is also survived by his grandchildren, Samantha, Morgan, Nathan, Cole, Sara, Becca and Bobbie Lynn; sisters, Dot (Alfie), Valerie (Gary), Donna (Gary); sister-in-law , Ann (Dougie) as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Fred.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 2:00p.m. followed by a reception all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Centre.
