MULLINS, Veronica Anne (Vernie) It is with great sadness that the family of Veronica Mullins (Vernie) announce her passing at home on Thursday January 16, 2020. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Anne (Coolen) and the late William Hartley Mullins. Vernie graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing. Following graduation in 1962 she worked at the Halifax Infirmary. She also attended Dalhousie University where she obtained a diploma in Nursing Administration and then returned to work at the Infirmary until retirement in 1996. Vernie is survived by her brother Jack Mullins and his wife Mary (Toronto), sister Cathy Hood (Gold River), nieces Brittany Thompson (Gold River), Tracey Moore (Halifax), Lysa Marryatt (Halifax). She is also survived by her great nephew Silas Thompson (Gold River) who always delighted her and brought a smile to her face when he visited. Vernie was predeceased by her parents, her brother Tom Mullins, brother-in-law Steve Hood. sister-in-law Gloria Mullins, and nephew Stephen Mullins. The family wishes to extend gratitude and appreciation to the entire Palliative Care Community Team, particularly Monica Flinn, as well as the VON and all the home care workers who took care of Vernie during the last five and a half years. We would like to thank Donna Gilbert and Shari Fiander who provided such kind and compassionate care during Vernie’s last few months. She was fortunate to have made many friends in the community where she lived and although we appreciate all of them we want to thank Marie Cox and Irene MacCormack for their frequent visits and for their loyalty, support, and friendship. Cremation has taken place. At Vernie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax.
