Obituary of Malina Gertrude Oates

Oates, Malina (Leanie) Gertrude, 86, of Halifax, NS passed away January 18, 2020 with her loving and devoted family by her side in QEII Hospital, Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Victoria, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Louise (Hiscock) Cole. Leanie spent most of her life in Nfld. She moved to Halifax in 1992 with her husband to be with her only daughter, Karen. Survived by son, Neil (St. John’s, Nfld); daughter, Karen (Brent Jones) Oates (Halifax); special granddaughter, Sarah Merlin (Halifax); sister-in-law, Marjorie Swain (Happy-Valley, Nfld); special niece, Mary Butt (Victoria, Nfld); and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Gordon; brothers, Eugene, Eben, Mark, Lewis, Reuben, Baxter; and sister, Beulah. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date.
