Gail MacDonald–Hickman Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Gail MacDonald–Hickman, age 78, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 2, 2020, with her loving husband Earl by her side. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Morrison and Effie (MacKinnon) MacDonald Gail was a loving wife, mother/step mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Many will remember Gail’s smile and outgoing personality as she helped manage MacDonald’s Dairy in Marion Bridge during her younger years. She later worked as a cashier at Woolco for many years until she retired. Gail loved to bake and knit for her family and friends. You were always welcomed at Gail’s kitchen for tea and biscuits any time of day. She was always thought full and kind and will be missed by her family and all that knew her. Gail is survived by her husband Earl Hickman; daughter, Raylene (Basil)Carroll, Darlene Powell, and Rhona (Shawn) Sullivan; sons, Raymond Powell, Kenneth (Norma) Hickman, Morrison (Sandra MacLeod) Powell and Robert (Valerie) Hickman. She is also survived by a sister Ardath Mac Donald, as well as sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Beside her parents, Gail was also predeceased by her sisters Heather and Lynn. A Celebration of Life will take place on January 5, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
