John (Jackie) Alfred Blois
Glace Bay, age 80
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John ( Jackie ) Blois on January 1, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alfred and Christina Blois. Jack worked as a coal miner for 29 years, of which included No. 26, Lingan and Phalen Colliers. He was an avid dart player and sports fanatic who loved his Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays.
He and wife, "Lovey" never missed a dance and loved to dance to, “ In the Mood” band and liked to spend time with their buddies at Tim Hortons. He was a great family man who loved everybody.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally (Sampson)Blois, sons, John (Pam) Antigonish, Ken (Tammy) Reserve and one daughter, Colleen (Derek). One brother, Lawrence (Colleen), Westmount, as well as three sisters, Elenor Brownell, New Waterford, Rita (Keith) Mulvey, Ontario and Linda(Gerry)Croney, Glace Bay, he is also survived by his five grandchildren: Bryden, Derek and Patrick whom he adored and Papa’s girls Karlee and Charlotte.
Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by son Jerry and his grandson Cameron, “his angels.” Brothers: Reggie, Jerry and Alfred Junior, as well as his sisters Dorothy, Rose and Sylvia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6,2020 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, at 11 a.m., all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Interment will be held at St. Anne’s Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cancer Centre and/or Palliative Care Unit at The Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S.
