Obituary of Connie Currie

Constance 'Connie' Marie Currie Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance ‘Connie ‘ Marie Currie, age 81 of Victoria Haven Nursing Home. Connie passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Cleophas (Currie) Stewart. Connie was employed as a nurse in various nursing homes in Hamilton, Ontario, retiring in 1992. She returned home to Glace Bay with John residing on Victoria St. until John’s passing in 1994, then moved to Wallace’s Road, and later to Victoria Haven Nursing Home in 2015 until her passing. She was much loved and will be missed by many. Besides her parents, Peter and Cleophas, she was predeceased by her husband John Currie; brother John Stewart; sisters, Anita Scott, and Carol McIntyre. Connie is survived by her four brothers, Fred, Ray and Ken, all of Glace Bay and Frank of Calgary, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan 2, 2020 from 3-5 p.m. at T.J.Tracey’s Funeral Home. A Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial to follow in St. Anne’s Church Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay.
