Daphne Jean Drover (Smith), age 77, of Milford, NS passed away September 19, 2024 at Truro Hospital. Born in St. John’s, NL she was the daughter of Albert and Lilian Smith. After completion of Nursing school at the Grace Hospital in St. John's NL Jean worked at the Grace Hospital, Come by Chance Hospital, Capt. William Jackman Hospital in Labrador City as well as the Wabush clinic where she touched many patients and staff. After a family move to Pasadena NL her and a good friend started and operated a successful restaurant where they were prominent members in the community and lived and respected by all. Once retired Jean and her husband moved to Nova Scotia where she gained a large number of new and dedicated friends through her involvement in many activities with St. Margaret's church, a knitting group, a hiking group, St. George's soup kitchen and her favourite pass time Pickle Ball. Jean was a kind and loving person who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was always willing to help someone any way she could and put others before herself. She will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. There won't be any cold hands or feet in heaven because Jean has arrived and will surely be knitting. God Bless. Daphne is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rennie Drover; sons, Steven Drover (Joy), Michael Drover (Anita); daughter, Jennifer Mckay (Tony); sister, Joanne Somerton (Randy); grandchildren, Abbigail Evans, Andrew Evans, Will Drover and Jack Drover. A Memorial Service will be held October 12, 2024, at 11:00am in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, 5639 Hwy2 Grand Lake, N.S. There will be a reception to follow at the Grand Lake Community centre. 22 Lakeside Dr. Grand Lake NS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.
