I'm so very sorry to have randomly stumbled across this news just now, but I'm glad that at least I found out in the first place, and that I was able to share it with my Brother Milind. I can still picture John at the front door of my Dad's place in Amherstview, saying goodbye to Milind just before John was going to move out of his address on Hyland Court, after his Father passed away. Then, years later, in the late Nineties, he called my Dad's place, asking for Milind (who was away), and John and I had a really nice conversation. I always hoped to see you again one day, John, and I'm so very sorry to hear of your passing, as is Milind, who is actually in Amherstview with my Dad at the moment, as I will be too. May you rest in peace. P.S. There's a picture of you and Milind together as little kids...I hope that I can find it and send it. Ranjana.

I have known John & the family since kindergarten. He was one of my best friends growing up. At an early stage you could tell was destined to be an actor or in the armed forces. He liked the actors Hawkeye and Bones. John did a lot of theoretical acting in the local plays. But he was destined to be an army paramedic. With over 50 years of friendship with John, he is going to be sorely missed by me and everyone who knew him. Condolences go out to his brother, sisters and daughter. Barbara, Preston, Martha, Alexandria, and Colleen. Rest in Peace John.

I first met John back in 1989 when we worked together at 2 Fd Amb. I really enjoyed the time we spent working together - John was such a knowledgeable and skilled medic, and an all-around great guy. It's truly unfortunate to hear this news of his passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to John's family. May he rest in peace.

I grew up with John and his sisters in Amherstview. Our Mothers were best friends so we spent a great deal of time in both houses. Johnny was always happy. After his Father died when we we younger, John took stepped up a lot. I will remember John as a childhood friend and our deepest sympathies go to Barbara, Martha, Preston and your entire families.

I served with John on our workups and deployment to Somalia in 92/93, a very smart and resourceful medic and soldier whom I enjoyed working with. I had this one from our tour in Somalia with Capt (Dr) Neil Gibson on the left of the picture and Lt(N) (Nursing Officer) Rebecca Fowthorpe on the right with John in the centre. My deepest regrets to John’s entire family. Fair Winds, Soft Landing.

Q: Describe where John worked and what they did
A: Worked with “Coop” with the Canadian Airborne Regiment, always willing to work and pulled more than his weight. Incredibly committed to his patients and always keen to learn.
A sad day indeed.
