Obituary of William "Billy" Gracie

William “Billy” Gracie, 82 Glace Bay (Hub), N.S. It is with deep heartache, that we the family of Billy Gracie of Glace Bay (Hub), announce his passing in the Glace Bay Hospital on Sunday, July 28, 2024, with his family at his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Patrick Robert Gracie and Margaret Rose Gracie. Da spent most of his working life as the Produce Manager at Sobey’s. His best working years came after retiring from Sobey’s when he joined his best friend Harvey Cameron at Pattens Funeral Home. Billy is survived by two sons: Earl (Tanya) Gracie, and Billie (Melissa) Gracie; two daughters: Belinda Gracie and Kelli Gracie (Allan Hillier), and bonus daughter Melissa Burta; two brothers: Mabby Gracie and Dan Gracie; ten grandchildren: Blayne, Jamie, Keigan, Nick, Vicki, Nadara, Liam, Kyle, Chris (Keisha), Brett, Colby, and his special little dog Rosie; three great-grandchildren: Kalli, Tallia, Carlli; as well as many special nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Billy was predeceased by the love of his life Florence, his daughter Rose Marie (Ree); brothers Jim, Leo, Charlie, and Alfred; sisters Lally and Liz. Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. in the Hub Club (Upstairs), 79 East Ave., Glace Bay. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
