Dear Aunt Faye, Bradley, Brian and families.
My memories of Uncle Fred were of ceilidhs at Nana McPhee's house on Steel's Hill. Oh how the music entertained all of us as young kids! Uncle Fred's smile was contagious and his hearty laughter was infectious. His dancing skills were amazing as he would whirl you around the dance floor and leave you breathless. He loved to have fun! When my mom Sally passed away and the family home was being readied for sale, Fred was "right there" to help me clean out the house and use his truck to haul away the junk. I couldn't have done the clean out without his help. Uncle Fred was so good to mom and like my brother Colin said, always checking up on her. I'm sure mom was the first to greet him at Heaven's gates. Uncle Fred was loved and will be missed.
Niece,
Joan Chisholm Sangster

Uncle Fred was so much to Sally our Mom. If Fred didn't have the answer no one did. It was always a good time when he visited either on a coal delivery, or just dropping in to see how she was. Celebrations never really got going till Fred and aunt Barbara started playing music. If aunt Aggie was in town you couldn't stop the music.
He was always tinkering with something. I'm sure he could have patented something and made a fortune.
His life was an inspiration and showed us living can be hard work and fun at the same time.
We'll miss you uncle Fred.
