It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Queen, Elaine Morita Blanchard (Malloy)(Tufts) in Halifax on July 16, 2024, at the age of 93. Mum was born in Halifax to the late George Tufts and Myrtle Bailey. She raised her 4 children in the North End of Halifax and then later moved to Lower Sackville. In her younger days she loved dancing, camping and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her shopping trips to Bangor, Vermont and New Brunswick and weekend hotel getaways with her Angels, Janet, Donna and Robin. Mum was a woman who took great pride in her appearance and was dressed to the nines and was always blinged out. She enjoyed a good feed of lobster, seafood chowder and Corned beef and cabbage and outings at the Timberlea Tavern with her family. She is survived by her children, Janet Scallion (Paul), Donna Daurie (Lester), Joanne Malloy, Brian Malloy (Brianna); and daughter in law, Robin Stone; stepsons, Wayne (Alva) who had a special place in mum’s heart. Also, David Blanchard and Joey Blanchard. Also survived by her ten brothers, Gordon Tufts, Jerry Tufts, Jimmy Tufts, Lewis Tufts, Bernard Tufts, Kenny Tufts, Mervyn Tufts, Robert Tufts, Scott Tufts, Gregory Tufts; and six sisters, Sandra Wournell, Jocelyn Phillips, Mary Graham, Debbie Murphy, Susan Purcell, Kathleen Laframboise. 8 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Malloy; and second husband, Ronald Blanchard; Auntie, stepmother Jessie Tufts; sister, Marion Kennedy; granddaughter, Crista Richardson; Sisters In -Law, Rosalie Tufts, Gail Tufts, Heather Tufts, Cathy Tufts, Dawn Tufts; Brothers In-Law, Bob Wournell, Tom Kennedy and Art Prudhomme. Throughout Mums life she was very blessed. She was also loved and cared for by her chosen daughter Robin Stone (her hotel sleeping buddy), special friend Donalda Luciano (who will miss her road trips) and son-in law Lester Daurie (her chief, cook and bottle washer). Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held in October. Extra special thanks to care givers from Closing the Gap, staff of ninth floor geriatric Unit Abbey Lane and T.J. Traceys who took care of mum with compassion.
