Donna and I met in Glace Bay when we were 17. Right away, I knew she was The One. She was smart, had a good sense of humour, and was just fun to be with. Her personality was magnetic – she always drew people in with her sweet smile, especially me.
We started dating and got married 5 years later. A year after that, Michelle came along so we decided to build a house. I built the house. But what is a house, really? It’s mostly just wood and drywall with some rooms and a roof. But Donna made it a home. She turned that house into our oasis, a place where we felt safe and secure, where we felt love and happiness, and where we made almost all of our memories as a family.
Not too long after, LeeAnne came along and then we were complete. A happy little family of four, with me outnumbered by the women, and never able to have a moment of peace and quiet. It was perfect. I was the happiest man alive.
Donna was the best wife. But what is a wife, really? Husband and wife is a term we use to categorize 2 people as being married. But I had so much more than a wife. I had a best friend. A very loving, loyal, compassionate friend who made being married very easy. We enjoyed each other’s company. We laughed a lot, and we talked all the time – well, Donna really did most of the talking and I did most of the listening.
We enjoyed parenting together in the home she built. We raised 2 beautiful daughters, and she really couldn’t have loved them more than she did. She was so proud of her girls.
She took care of everything for us. She was an awesome cook, our home was always spotless clean, and she always helped the girls with their homework. She helped me a lot too with everything. Here's a small example: Every single day, Donna picked out my outfit. So, from now on, you have to cut me a little slack if you see me out and my shirt doesn’t match my pants.
Donna was the likeable one, she was a real social butterfly. Everywhere she went, she made friends. Through every phase of her life, she made new friends. Her first friends were her sisters, including her sister Kay who is here with us today. She made friends with Pauline when they were toddlers, and Pauline will always be her best friend forever.
She made great friends working at Shoppers Drug Mart when she was in her 30’s and 40’s. They still go out to supper or have a little gathering at someone’s house, and I see some of them here today, gathering for Donna. Same with her friends Vivian and Dawn from EDS, she looked forward to a weekend on the Mira with you girls every year.
Donna also made so many friends at the Seniors & Pensioners Club. You guys meant the world to her. It’s so nice to see so many of you here today.
And then there’s The Crew. You know who you are. We’ve had lots of ups and downs, and so many laughs. Donna would be weak with laughter after spending time with The Crew – she’d be complaining to me later that her sides hurt from laughing so much at the men being so foolish.
Donna, I would like to say that you were my best friend and the love of my life. We shared everything – our hopes, our dreams, and every bit of our lives. I will miss you every day, but I am so grateful that we had so many happy years together. I am so proud of the woman you were and I know you touched the lives of everyone around you.
I love you to the moon and back, Donna.

Donna was a sweetheart, thoughtful and the champion of organization. I fell in love with Fort Myers as we (the McLeans) were there the same year as Donna and Shelly in 2019. There are so many things I can talk about over the years we have been friends but the one that comes back to me is the trip she planned for Disney We met several times at Shelly and Donna's before all the plans were finished As for me I was never to Disney I was amazed at the crowds I had never seen that many people at one time Now the trip itself was one I will never forget Donna had details for every minute She made it clear that if you didn't want to go then go on your own Marco and I always followed Donna and Shelly Well we were followers I have to say I was so amazed with the trip that when there was another trip to Disney planned We were in like flint Again everything was planned out I can only imagine the time she spent on planning these trips Up til now I always gave the praise to Shelly but he was quick to tell me it was all Donna We had other trips that she planned but those two were the best Donna was amazing If you had a problem that you had solving no matter what it was she could solve it for you Donna you will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you Marco and I will certainly miss you REST IN PEACE OUR GOOD FRIEND Donna Mullins

I was very blessed to have Donna in my chair for many years .I loved hearing about all their "the crew" adventures together.Donna loved organizing trips with her friends, I always told her she should have been a travel agent.Donna had a way of describing her travels as if you were there with her.
She could tell a joke like no other.
She loved chatting about her to beautiful daughter, which she was so proud of.Michelle and Lee Ann my heart is broken for you both.
We would chat about her gardens that she and Shelley would spend hours in.
