Obituary of Thomas Michael Gibbons
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Michael Gibbons, who was born August 14, 1987 in Halifax.
Tommy/Tom was the kindest and most caring person to all who were fortunate to know him. He was known for his big heart. Tommy was a proud and devoted member of the Halifax Regional Police, who was well respected by all. His colleagues would likely describe Tommy as a gentle giant who put others before himself.
Throughout his growing years Tommy was involved in various sports. His proudest sporting accomplishment was his football career, as he graduated from the QEH Lions football program and finally moved onto the university level where he had many fond memories on the Saint Mary’s Huskies football field.
Tommy spent most of his time since then with the love of his life Jillian Elaine Forhan, and their dog Brady. He also spent much of his time surrounded by his devoted family and friends. He is survived by his loving parents, Gerard and Nancy (Beattie) Gibbons; sister, Elizabeth Gibbons of Halifax; grandmother, Frances Beattie of Berwick; in-laws, Michael and Elaine (Castel) Forhan; sister-in-law, Bailey Robinson (David, Reed) of Hubley; brother-in-law, Ben Forhan (Diana) of Calgary. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tommy will be remembered for his contagious smile that lit up a room and his willingness to help a friend or neighbour in need. With this in mind, in Tommy’s memory we would encourage anyone struggling with mental health issues to reach out and speak with someone. His friends and family would like to invite you to attend his Celebration of Life, which will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at The Homburg Centre (The Tower), court side lounge, at Saint Mary’s University between 1:00pm - 4:00pm, with the ceremony beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association of Nova Scotia in honour of Tommy Michael Gibbons.
Sometimes those who smile the biggest are those who are suffering the most in silence.
