Freddie, Dawn, Kelly and families I am so saddened to hear of Joan's passing. I knew Joan for a number of years when we met when I visited my sisters in Terence Bay and also at school. She was always a fun loving happy person. Condolences to all of you.

Joanie was my best friend forever. I met Joanie over 40 years ago at Maritime Life.
I had just moved to Halifax in 1980 and this is when my friendship forever began with Joanie. We became best friends from that moment I met Joanie at work . I was new in Halifax and she made me so welcome in her life.
Our friendship grew as she was the sweetest, kind and loving friend to me. We worked together over 40 years and we had so many laughs and we always made time to go shopping together and be there for each other.
I will miss my bestie and would like to take time to give my Hugs to Freddie, Dawn and family and Kelly and family. No words can say how sad I am and she will always be with me in my heart. God love the family. John and Mary

Worked with Joanie for many many years at Maritime Life. She was an excellent co-worker and always very pleasant to deal with. Loved her family dearly. Great person all round. So sorry for your loss.
A little story about Joan. After smoking at your desk was banned and they created a smoking room, we were sitting one day working away and we smelt smoke. What should we see but dear Joanie sitting at her desk puffing away. We alerted her to it and panic set in, what to do now with this lit item in her hand in a place full of paper everything in that day. We all laughed at the panic and I do believe her coffee cup became the ashtray of choice that day. She was so sure she would be fired. Of course she was not but pardon this but the butt of a joke for many days.

To The Smith Family
I am saddened to hear of Joan's passing . I worked with Joan for many years at Maritime Life. Joan had a heart of gold and it was a guarantee any conversation with Joan left you with a smile . I will always remember the day she poked her head through the large floor plant that separated our work stations and startled me beyond and her laugh that followed at my reaction.
Cherish your memories and hold them close so they can bring you comfort.
Rest in Peace Joan
Sincere Sympathy

Freddie, Dawn, Kelly and families. So sorry for the loss of Joan. I've known her as long as I can remember and always considered her extended family. I can remember times at Viv's and Aunt Mary's when we'd visit. Always a smile and hello whever we met and a few chuckles at bingo too. May she rest in peace and may God give you all the strength to get through this loss.
