Obituary of Lorne Joseph Gilfoy

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces his passing on March 11th, 2024, at the Halifax Infirmary, just 6 days short of the 65th wedding anniversary and 15 days short of his 92nd birthday. Born to Henry and Mary Ann Gilfoy of Halifax in 1932. At the age of 15 Lorne started his career as a freight handler, retiring after 47 years. Going to his father's camp from the time he was born and every chance he could until he permanently moved there just before retirement. Lorne dearly loved Mill Lake, enjoying the wildlife, and feeding the birds. He was a kind and caring man always ready to lend a helping hand working on cars, boats, or anything with a motor. Over the years enjoying many family gatherings, playing horseshoes, washer toss, gardening, water skiing, tubing, ATV’ing or just touring the lake and ending the evenings with campfires and stories. He was so good at telling the stories of his life and many adventures. Survived by his wife Marion Gilfoy (Evans) and his five daughters, Colleen (Jim) Adams, Lorna (Mike) Drake, Wanda Gilfoy, Miriam (Chris) Maher and Adrienne Euloth. Grandchildren, Jeffery, Christopher, Yolanda, Keeley, Corey, Joshua, Christie, Robyn, and Lauren as well as his eleven great grandchildren. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary Ann Gilfoy, sisters Kathleen and Nell, and son-in-law Brian Euloth. Cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date, as per his wishes.
