Currie, Corinna Rose, age 96. Our Heavenly Father has called his faithful servant home. It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear Mother at the R.K. Nursing Home, Antigonish, N.S. on February 19, 2024. She was born in East Tracadie, N.S.
Mom was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. She was a kind, gentle soul, who after many tragedies in life, never gave up on her faith. She was a quiet and reserved lady who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was an amazing cook and shared her love with food.
Her kitchen was never closed and her hands were rarely still. Everybody knew, regardless of when they arrived, or how many arrived, there would be plenty of homemade cooking, including bread and rolls for everyone. Her peanut butter fudge was always a hit.
She was resourceful and never bought what she could make. Mom had many talents. She was a beautiful seamstress and knitter; making baby sets, socks and mittens for her children, grand and great-grandchildren. She upholstered furniture that looked like it came out of a store. There wasn't anything she couldn't do. She operated her own restaurant, providing good food and service to the local community and travelling public.
Mom especially loved her role as Grannie to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Time spent at Granni 's house was a special time. Mom loved gardening, and in later years, she planted her flowers and veggies in pots on her bright sunny veranda. It was a joy to see the results of her labour grow to fruition.
She is survived by her sons Terrance (Joan), Allan(Linda), Joseph(Donna), Michael(Gayle), daughter Mary Pelrine (Ronnie), brother Russell(Teresa)), half -sister Shirlene Nickerson {Lindsay) 15 grand-children and 22
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Terrance, sons Charles, David, Vincent, daughters Marie, Margaret, Rose-Marie, Corinna, mother Amelia Bouchie, step-father David Bouchie and half-brothers, Vincent and Seward.
The family would like to extend a big thank-you to the staff at Glen Haven Nursing Home, New Glasgow and R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish for their kindness and care of our Mother.
