Reid R. MacMullen
Reserve Mines
We the family are saddened to announce the death of our father “Poppy” Reid MacMullen, age 70, on January 2, 2024, at the QE11 Halifax, NS with his loving family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Pat (Reid) and Ray MacMullin.
Reid was a hard-working man who was employed with DEVCO for 27 years. After the closure of the mines, he continued to work at Sydney Airport for DCI Cleaning until his retirement in 2020. He enjoyed gardening and being out in the yard, however his greatest achievement was his family whom he adored.
Reid is survived by his two sons, Dan (Lenora), and David (Shannon); daughter, Maryann (Cory) MacKillop; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jessica, Jennifer, Ryan, Gary, Nathan, and Wyatt; one precious great grandchild, Jade. He is also survived by two brothers, Kenny and Bill (Wai Kam); two sisters, Thelma and Judy (Bill Cameron); brothers in law; Kim (Karen), Mel (Janice); special sister-in-law Paula (James) Young, who we can never thank enough for her support and always being there for us whenever we needed her: as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Cathy MacMullen; son, Terry; sisters, Clare and Raylene Withrow. As well as his in-laws, Reg and Kay Lambert; sister-in-law, Carol Lambert.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, 10:00a.m. with Lily MacDonald officiating, taking place in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, (902-849-4199).
Thank you to the staff of the ICU 5.2 and the QE11 Halifax Hospital.
