I just learned today of Veronica’s passing. I worked with her at the Public Prosecution Service. She was a dedicated legal assistant and always a proper English lady. I know her co-workers will be saddened to learn of her passing. My sincere condolences to her family.

Marie also sends her sincere condolences. Like me Marie was very fond of Vi and has only good memories of a thoroughly decent, gentle, family orientated lady. RIP Vi.

Most of us prefer to say something profound about Auntie Vee but I prefer to think as if I am sitting with friends and family sharing memories. I was her first niece and I imagine she was pretty excited about that 61 years ago. I always looked forward to her visits and how she would show genuine interest in our family in Indiana. I was fortunate enough to visit England with her sister Mary and brother Alan. We all were much younger then. The one memory that I have and still makes me laugh, is when Alan was going about his day before we left to go to town and was whistling. He is a talented whistler and back then could do so loudly and enthusiastically. One day Auntie Vee had just had enough and said “ I wish he would stop that fricking whistling!” The family can probably picture her saying that in a state of love and irritation! Another King family trait is with the small kids and babies. She was a good baby sniffer. Most of us have that King gene. She would sniff the little ones as we typically do when a little one was irresistible. I guarantee that all of her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews were blessed with a good squeeze and sniff! We will miss you Auntie. May you rest in Peace. Love Nikki

Vi always seems as pleased to see you as we were all pleased to see her. I only wish I had seen more of her. Her love of family was as clear as the pride she showed in them. Rest in peace Vi, we all miss you. Stuart

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of our wonderful Auntie V. We trust the Lord will comfort all the family during time. Auntie V always had a smile on her face and could light up a room. She will be dearly missed.

Several years ago, Myra and I along with my son, Richard and his wife Terri and their son Kevin, decided to go to visit the Distillery District in Toronto. (It was close to where Kevin rented an apartment and he was anxious to show the area to us!)
As we were walking around and visiting various bars and shops, Myra and I saw what looked like someone we knew from Halifax. It looked very much like Vee, but as we hadn't seen her for many years, and we had never seen the grown up daughter, we were not sure so did not speak or make ourselves known to the two girls! It certainly looked like her!
When we returned home, we decided to send her an email to tell her she had a Doppelgänger!
Lo and behold, she answered to say it had been her and her daughter!
We certainly didn't expect to see anyone from Nova Scotia, in Toronto! Afterwards, we were very sad that we had not spoken! It would have been a surprise to Vee as well.
Unfortunately, that will never happen again.
She will be sadly missed by two of her longest friends!

Vi ( as we knew her) was a lovely kind and gentle lady, I remember when we first holidayed in Halifax Canada she welcomed us into her home with open arms, we were a family of four from England Vi was pregnant with Kerry, my husband Les ( her brother in law) was a very fussy eater and she went out of her way to make sure he was happy and fed him chips and food he liked, even though she had three children of her own nothing was too much bother although she must of been exhausted with all the extra in her home,
Rest in peace Vi you will be sadly missed. Roni, Les Paula & Craig
