Obituary of Edward Gannon
Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward (Roy) Gannon of Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 30, 2023 at the age of 86. Roy died peacefully in hospital with his loving wife of 60 years and daughter by his side.
Born in Halifax in 1937, Roy was the only child of the late Lucy Edna Slaunwhite (Gannon) and Hudson Roy Gannon.
Besides his wife, Judy and daughter, Amber (Todd Eavis) he is also survived by his two beautiful granddaughters, of which he was very proud, Bailey and Jade Gannon-Eavis.
Roy was a proud alumni of Richmond and St Pat’s schools. For many years, Roy enjoyed being involved in the planning of each of the Richmond school reunions.
Roy was a kind, patient and gentle man who loved photography, travel, playing the organ, and spending time with his friends. In more recent years, he could often be found at the mall, sitting, and having coffee with his “mall buddies.”
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the cardiology floor (6.2) of the QE2 Infirmary for their compassionate care during his last week of life.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the devoted staff of the hospital’s Liver clinic and Heart clinic for their years of top-notch care.
As per Roy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation is under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. To leave words of condolence for the family, please visit: www.tjtracey.com.
Donations in Roy’s memory can be made to the QE2 Health Science Center, or a charity of your choice.
