Obituary of Timm Hannebohm
Please share a memory of Timm to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We regret to inform friends and family that Timm Hannebohm is deceased. On July 22nd he was found in a wooded area overlooking the ocean. He did not suffer.
He is survived by Nicolle Hannebohm (ex-wife); Sandra Hannebohm (daughter); Monica Hannebohm (sister), Erika Fuhr (sister); and Harvey Hannebohm (brother).
Timm was a talented TV and film writer. In his career he won awards for excellence in film and advertising, having worked at CBC and ATV/ASN as a writer, producer and director, then as a long time freelancer (and on-and-off cannabis salesman).
He did creative work on Trailer Park Boys, Showcase’s highest-rated Canadian original series, as well as the movie Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day.
He also worked on the CBC TV series Crawford, about a man who moves back into his parents' house only to realize he is able to talk to raccoons and decides to use this skill to start a pest control business.
In recent years he was also breaking into animation. He created several promising animated TV series, collaborating with studios on three shows.
Timm was a loving father who spent every summer with his daughter Sandra when she was a kid. During these visits, they called his small bungalow home “Rancho Relaxo.” Together, they enjoyed hiking in the woods, swimming, picking blueberries, and walking along the Dartmouth Harbour in the fog. At other times they watched Jeopardy or The Simpsons, and he educated her in Western pop culture—the best films, TV, books, and music, which he studied for work—and on occasion they may have secretly had ice cream for breakfast.
He will be remembered by friends and family as a guy who had a lot of fun and loved feeding people. His bright blue-green eyes and care-free demeanour expressed a smart, playful, and sensitive spirit, but he also struggled with depression.
Sometimes the people who light up our lives can suffer silently, preferring not to risk being a burden to others. Timm was not the kind of person who found it easy to let people in and ask for help, but he was the kind of person who helped others.
His daughter and ex-wife supported him loyally through his hardships and will miss him deeply. He will also be sorely missed and fondly remembered by fellow creatives who admired his wit, originality, and command of the written word.
Timm’s family and friends encourage all who knew him to attend a memorial service Sept 12, 2023 from 4pm-6pm in T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, NS, B3S 1C4, 902-835-4212. They welcome written letters, poems, or statements to be read aloud at the service.
