I was very saddened on Friday when I was notified that Noble had passed while On my way to GlaceBay where it was my intent to make a visit to him on Saturday. Noble was a friend of mine and our family for all the years I can remember. Sartos Grocery was my first job as a young teen in the late 60’s . Noble Sarto was a man who was not only a friend, he was an anchor to the community as The Store was a lifeline to so many families in the community and communities for generations. As the obituary reads he worked hard his entire life and retirement was something he put off till well into his 80’s because Sartos Grocery was his life. Personally, I’ve always admired Nob, and we shared some interesting conversations at the kitchen table on the time outs from the Meat room or behind the counter when available. Upon his retirement I had the extreme pleasure of thanking Noble for his contributions to Bridgeport and to say on behalf of all who knew him how, Thank you. Now Mr Sarto, my friend I reluctantly and honourably say a final GoodBye. You and Sartos Gricery together were a Rock in our community and it was an Honour to be your friend. God Speed.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember him well from when I grew up on Wesley Street in Bridgeport. Just before he retired I went in to see him and although he hadnt seen me in probably 30 years, he took one look at me and said you are the youngest of Tom Kelly's. He was very good to us as kids.
