Obituary of Kevin Joseph McNeil

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Joseph McNeil on July 6th 2023 after several years of battling many health issues. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of John Walter Walsh and Sarah Belle Lynk. Kevin was a retired employee of several hotels and enjoyed his last 18 years at the Barrington Hotel. He loved bowling and was quite sad to stop participating in it because of his health. His love of the game lead him to work part-time at Bayers Road Bowlarama for 27 years. He developed many friendships in his time there. Known for his comedic approach to all situations in life, he was an off the wall person who enjoyed laughter. Left behind to grieve are his wife of 39 years, Sharon; daughters, Kathryn (Scott) and Colleen (Stephen); sister, Alice (late William); brothers, Jim (Charlene) and Sheldon (late Shirley); sisters in law, Debbie (Blair) and Alice (Cameron); and brothers in law, Philip (Theresa) and David (Susan). He is also survived by many neices and nephews. He will truly miss the pride and joys of his life, his 2 grandsons, Ronan and Rory, who he loved beyond this life. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, John Walter and Sarah Belle; and sisters, Donna (Gerald), Beverly (Skip), and Loretta (late Jook and late Dana). A huge thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who took care of Kevin on his many hospital stays and appointments, and especially to his sister in law Debbie, brother in law Philip, and daughters Kathryn and Colleen for being available to accompany him to all of his appointments. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at 7A Palliative Care and Hospice Halifax for taking such great care of him. His body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, Kevin would love for donations to be made to the SPCA. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, July 13th from 4pm - 6pm in TJ Tracey Funeral Home, Bayers Lake.
