It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Albany Pyke. George was born in 1937 in Glace Bay, NS. to the late Percy and Mabel Pyke.
George spent his entire teaching career in the New Aberdeen area of Glace Bay. He was a proud life member of the Glace Bay Kinsmen Club and very active later in the K-40 Club.
George enjoyed travelling, bowling, and particularly golfing. He was quite fond of all social engagements that involved family and friends. And of course, his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart.
After retirement George was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels and The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
George is survived by his wife Anne of 58 years; son: Chris (Rachel); daughter in law: Monique Ouellette (Roger); granddaughter: Gabryelle; grandson: Jack, sister: Carol Gregor;as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
George was predeceased by his son Todd and sister Audrey LeMoine.
Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey. Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m., all taking place at TJ Tracey in Glace Bay.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Glace Bay Food Bank or Glace Bay Salvation Army.
