It was a pleasure to have worked with Joey both in his first year and this past semester as his technical report instructor at the Coast Guard College. He was a kind and hardworking student who was easy to work with and he will be greatly missed by the college community. In line with his true nature of helping others, he had taken on the task of trying to improve student life in residence at the college with his technical report. He was determined to make improvements for future cadets as he would have soon been departing for his career at sea. Despite warnings that this would be a difficult undertaking for this course, he pushed ahead as he felt there was room for improvement and in doing so shed some light on the experience of officer cadets and made some excellent recommendations that may help influence future policies at the college. he will be remembered fondly and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Such a tragic loss for all. Sincerely, Sarah Penney

Joey is my best friend of 17 years. He was my first friend and the first person I found comfort in being around. His family treated me like one of their own and I am forever thankful. Me and Joey shared a special bond and though we weren’t always in touch, he was and always will be in my heart.

My nephew Ty MacMullin was Joey’s best friend. I live on the mainland, so I only met Joey a few times - but I will always remember how sweet he was. Such a kind, patient, & loyal friend to Ty. He was one of those people who everyone loved. I felt like I knew Joey because my sister spoke so highly of him so often. Joey was a special person to my family and I am so sad to hear about his passing. Sending my deepest condolences to his entire family and all his friends. Jodi (Lewis) Bradbury, Greenwood NS
