Dear Tricia, Caitlin, Liam, Brendan, Marli, Moragh, Aunt Patsy and all who knew and loved Cordell,
Please accept Kevin, Noah and my condolences. Every memory I have of Cordell, he is smiling, joking, laughing and emanating a true goodness, sincerity and integrity hard to come by in these times.
I remember driving around with him, Tricia and Andrea on visits to Dominion, trying not to be too annoying, hanging around with the "big kids". He was always so kind and warm and welcoming, with that big grin and sparkling eyes, making everyone around him feel so at ease and accepted and seen and respected.
Noah brings up Cordell still from time to time saying, "That tall man at your Aunt's house, who took me out to the backyard and showed me the pool? He was really nice." That kid has a good read on people. How lucky were we all to have known a soul like him, even just for one meeting, as he was memorable in a special kind of way so hard to define in words and in a way even a small child could sense.
Sending love and strength and prayers,
Gina Vassallo
“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly – that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp” – Anne Lamott

Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corner of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in the hollow part of your chest Grief is just love with no place to go. -Jamie Anderson -

As a former colleague of Cordell, in life he gave us friendship, laughs, showed us competence in duties while always offering help without compensation. In passing Cordell gives us faith, by which he lived, knowing his empathy and kindness made the world a better place.
Rest In Peace my friend.

Tricia and family, my sincere condolences. I'm broken hearted for you all on such a great loss. Cordell was a sweet, fun loving gentleman who always made you smile no matter how you felt. His hijinks made a hard job manageable and helped all of us keep our sanity. Many times he shared your wonderful baking and also made many loaves of bread and popcorn for everyone at work. He was always willing to help in any way he could no matter what the circumstances. He was truly one of the best. Every time I see a bee I will think of him. Please take comfort in all your wonderful memories and the precious time you had with him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. RIP my friend.

Dear Tricia and family. We can not begin to imagine how it feels to be going through this terrible loss. Cordell helped me in ways I could never fully explain. Being a Gardiner boy he took me under his wing when I started at CBCF and helped guide me for over 20 years. He was my friend and I hold him in the highest regard. He was a man ,father , husband and an officer that other men could only aspire to be like. His laugh and positive attitude was not only infectious but made such a change in so many people’s lives. I will miss you COB, your friend forever - Finlay

Dear Tricia, Caitlin, Brendan and Liam... thoughts and support are sent to you all. Cordell was someone, who I instantly gravitated to, when I met him at work. We shared more laughs and silliness, than I can even explain. His cheerful personality and genuine kindness, were refreshing, in a workplace that is often more negative than positive. I considered him a friend, as he was there for me, outside of work as well, helping with a project or whatever you needed. Cordell lived life to the fullest and set an example we should all follow. Those of us left without him, suffer a tremendous loss.... but I am fortunate to have known him and his memory will remain with me always.

I was so sorry and shocked to hear of Cordell’s passing. I worked with Cordell at the Port Hawkesbury Justice Centre. We were so sad for us but so happy for Cordell when he got transferred to Sydney…our huge loss. He was a wonderful guy to work with. Whenever he was covering my court (Family Division) and I was Court Reporting I knew court would always run smoothly, and of course it did! Cordell always had time to chat, do anything you asked or offered to do something that would make my job easier. I’ve worked with many people over the years and not many left a mark like Cordell did. Sending my deepest condolences and will keep Cordell and his loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Rest In Peace Cordell.
