Tillie,Blair,Jim and the Morrison Family. I was sorry to learn of Bobby's passing. I was acquainted with Bobby during my High School years in Glace Bay and our paths crossed occasionally in later years. I never did make it to the Pit Head but was in the Union Street location-was not served(something about my age).
He had an interesting life and you all will have lots of happy memories .

He was my friend before I knew his name.
During the first week of school in 1943, I remember telling my mother about a classmate that I had befriended. She asked "What's your friend's name?" I replied "I don't know".
So the next morning I listened for his response to roll-call. At recess I approached him and called him 'Robert'. He smiled and said "that's OK but my real name is 'Bobby'...what's yours?"
In the 78 years since that week we had a few thousand conversations including our last, by phone, two weeks ago when I could still hear the smile in his voice.
Bobby was special....and I was lucky.
I thank Tillie and the family for sharing him with me and many others.
I pray that their grief will soon fade, while love and happy memories endure.

Tillie and family, Blair and Jim,
God bless Bobby. We were life-long friends from our youth participating together in many sports events on various teams and as tent-mates for numerous summers at St. Anne's Summer Camp, George's River. In official sports we began as line-mates with centreman, the late Angus "Red Angie" MacNeil in Glace Bay Rotary Club Common School Hockey League. In High School I joined the RCAF for a full career but always renewed my friendship with Bobby on my frequent trips to the Bay over the years. My dear parents were living at 24 Chappel Drive, next door to Bobby and Tillie. Sincere condolences on the loss of Bobby. My cousin, Ray "Danny Doc" MacNeil telephoned me on Saturday with the sad news. Bobby will be missed by a multitude of persons.
