Obituary of Brenda Elizabeth Gouthro

Brenda Gouthro, 73 Dominion With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Brenda, our beautiful sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Brenda, age 73, passed away surrounded by family, on Monday, October 18, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Brenda was the daughter of the late Matthias and Kay (Nearing)Gouthro. She was a graduate of St. Rita’s nursing school in Sydney and spent more than 40 years as a nurse in Boston. Brenda was so thrilled to retire and return to Cape Breton. Her retirement years were full. She was an active member of the C.B. Duplicate Bridge Club and was delighted to see her name in the paper when she and her partner won their matches. She enjoyed golfing at Lingan and visiting Dominion Library, to get her books. Brenda was also a great support to her entire family when we needed help translating medical information. Brenda is survived by her siblings: Paul (Eileen), Kathy (Cameron MacNeil), Lisa, John, Wendy (Mark Soper), Kenneth (Jacqueline Fink), and Yvette; as well as a sizeable extended family, and friends who loved her dearly. Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her sister Nancy, and niece Jessie MacNeil. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199.
