Obituary of Marie Lena Roberts

Marie Roberts – Age 87

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie passed away peacefully at VG with family by her side. The family would like to thank all the nurses on 7A – Palliative Care at the VG for their exceptional care. 

Born in Corberrie, NS, she was a daughter of Marie Adelle Blinn (Comeau) and Joseph Edouard Blinn.

In her earlier years she was a cake decorator at the Cake Box in Halifax. In her retirement years she especially enjoyed playing cards, chase the ace with her friends at St. Ignatius Church Hall and Skip Bo with her daughter, Nancy and daughter-in-law, Kathy. She enjoyed Bingo and she loved to knit and crochet for her family. She also loved to knit hats for preemies, finger puppets and comfort dolls to donate to the IWK. Marie would also never pass up an opportunity to travel. She enjoyed bluegrass music and listening to Daniel O’Donnell. She loved checking out the local talent at area festivals.

Marie is survived by sons Gary (Suzie) Roberts, and Dale (Tracey) Roberts; daughter Nancy (Wade) Tattrie; daughter-in-law: Kathy Roberts; grandchildren Jessica Roberts (Darcy Morrison), Brett Roberts, Lauren (Jonathan) Perry, Travis Roberts, Lisa Tattrie, Alex (Shelby) Tattrie, Jake Tattrie, Alyssa (Jordan) Wells, Justin Roberts, Jarred (Holly) Roberts & great granddaughter Kinsley Roberts; sister Marguerite; brothers Emile, Louie, Albert, Joseph and Charles; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Harvey; son Derrick; sisters Pauline Blinn, Annette Blinn, and Rita Deveau; and brother Nelson Blinn.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19^th, at 1:30 pm at St. Ignatius Church 1288 Bedford Hwy, Bedford NS.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory can be made to: Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
