Obituary of Florence Catherine MacGowan (Davidson) (Gray)

Florence Catherine (Davidson) (Gray) MacGowan It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Florence on December 4, 2024 at Northwood Ivany Place, Bedford. Flo was born November 26, 1948 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Wally and Kay (MacIsaac) Davidson. Back in the day Flo loved to dance/jive and often frequented the Living End Coffee Room, The Olympic Gardens and Saint Mary’s Boat Club, where she could be found dancing the night away. She loved to listen to music from the 60’s and 70’s. Flo is survived by her daughter Sheryl/Sherry (Saint John, NB) and her two sons Will/Bill (Bedford, NS) and Tim (Toronto, ON) who were the center of her world. She was always so happy to have a visit or phone call from them and her face would light up whenever she talked about them. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren Lexi and Tyler Gray. She is also survived by her two brothers Al and Glen (Shelley) Davidson and three sisters: Noreen Berrette (Ron), Heather Nicholas (Mike) and Colleen Cameron (Eddy Barter) and several nieces and a nephew. Flo will also be fondly remembered by her life-long friend, Evalyn Brewer. Flo is predeceased by her first husband, Tom Gray, as well as her second husband, John MacGowan. She is also predeceased by her parents, Wally and Kay Davidson, a brother, Wayne, and nephews Anthony Nicholas and Dallas Jenereaux. In her later years Florence drew much love, joy, and faith from being a member of the Halifax Reformed Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be held there, at 1266 Old Sambro Rd. Harrietsfield, NS, on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 11 am. Family flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to Nova Scotia Mental Health, The Multiple Sclerosis Society, or her church. We would like to thank Northwood Ivany Place staff of both Sandpiper Hills and Fisherman's Landing areas for their compassion and wonderful care they took of Flo while she was a resident and up until her passing. We very much appreciate all the respect and compassion they showed Florence and the family during this difficult time.
